Izzie Dazzles at Disability Gymnastics Competition

Eight-year-old Kitebrook Preparatory pupil, Isabella A., wowed judges to come out on top at the Hinkley Gymnastics Club Disability Floor and Vault Competition.

Izzie, who is currently in Year 4 at the Moreton-in-Marsh Prep, trains 16 hours a week, both after school and Saturdays, at the North Cotswolds Gymnastics & Trampolining Academy, where they run a programme for women’s artistic and disability gymnastics. For the competition she took on both a floor routine to music and a flat back vault, winning overall in both categories, and scoring the highest mark of the day with her floor performance—a very impressive 9.8!

Born with a cleft lip and palate, hearing and speech issues, plus talipes (club foot), Izzie still suffers with her foot turning and endures pain in her hip as a result, but her disabilities haven’t hindered her progress or ambition, going down the route of the gymnastics national pathway, with national success firmly in her sights.

Mum, Caroline said: “Izzie is addicted to the gym and is so incredible—nothing stops her! She is so brave and resilient. I am extremely proud of her.”
